Skies Tutorial - part 2

Start with a new scene and delete the groundplane and disable 'link sun to view' as before.

In Bryce3D turn off the sun, in Bryce2 set the sun colour to Black (this will give a similar effect).

Create a terrain with a 512 resolution, with the terrain selected click the 'E' to enter the Terrain Editor.

Once the Terrain Editor has loaded click on 'picture', now load your previously rendered 'skytemplate.bmp'.
Still in the terrain editor click on 'raise/lower' and lower the height of the terrain until it is very low.
The example above will give some idea of the range of greys to aim for.

** If you are wondering 'why so dark', I've found excessive height at this stage gives the final render large flat 'quantized' areas which look quite unnatural **

Exit the Terrain editor and with the Terrain still selected in the Scene Editor click 'M' To enter the Material Editor.

Set up the materials editor using the image on the left as a guide.

Click 'P' to access the image loading menu

Click on an empty picture holder to access the file loading screen.

The 'skytemplate.bmp' file does not contain its own alpha map , to create
one click 'copy' and 'paste' as shown above. This pseudo alpha map
will be useful when using transparency effects later.

Exit from the Image Ioader and the Material Editor to get back to the Scene Editor.
